What is the Student Council, how does it operate and what is it's procedure to deal with a problem?

  • The group is made up of 6 students and 1 mature student. One staff member may be asked to join as needed for help with issues requiring their knowledge and experience.
  • Student Council membership can change according to how the student body feels about its abilities. We encourage any constructive criticism of the council to be sure that it is effective. This could happen every month.
  • Anyone may bring any issue of concern to the Council.
  • Everything will be kept confidential, unless the group decides after having looked into the issue that it could not be resolved without making more of the school aware of it.
  • The way to bring issues to the Council is by either telling a member individually so that they can present it to the rest of the council or talking to the whole group or by leaving a note for one member on the board.
  • The Council will not assume the role of a "police force" or carry out decisions made by the school. (For example, enforcing bedtime.)
  • The Council will also suggest and accept requests for fun-activities for the students, but no student will be forced to participate.
