How do we see our role as teachers?

Education is a two way process of discovery in which we learn together with the children. We greatly value communication between home and school and try to facilitate that link. We realise that we are in a partnership with parents in the education of a child and that a good relationship among parents, teachers and children is of importance. We attempt to establish a link between the home and the school and have an open and honest channel of communication between parents and teachers. For children who attend Inwoods full time our endeavour is to help them be well equipped for secondary education.

Inwoods staff

The Inwoods Staff is a group of professional individuals who have sought out the school looking for a sensible and sensitive approach to learning. They have varying qualifications and experience, but one thing they share is an appreciation for Inwoods Small School’s unique learning environment. The teachers set the tone for the learning atmosphere and facilitate the implementation of the school’s intent.

Partnership with parents

When your child begins at Inwoods, you will be invited to discuss his/her needs and this will be the start of an essential growing relationship between teachers, parents and your child.

Throughout the term, there will be opportunities for teachers to share information with you and answer any queries that may arise.

As well as two reports in the year, there will be a once-yearly meeting between teachers and parents in which each child’s well-being and development will be discussed. When necessary, arrangements to meet can be made at other times.

Parents play an integral part in the healthy development, continuity and stability of the school. When you choose Inwoods School for your child/ren, you are choosing a school where you are expected to contribute to the well-being of the whole educational community.

I love the school so much so that I wish it could be all over the world, so wherever I go I could have it following, with all the friends too.

Emelyn, age 6

Inwoods is truly a place where a child is able to be (and encouraged to be) themselves. A safe, loving environment where learning is a natural process and friendship can flourish. We are so lucky to have found you!

Annelies and Andy Scott, parents

I like not having really strict rules, teachers have a nice attitude to us, they don't get cross if you can't understand something.

Todd, age 8

Inwoods gave me lots of space, where I could learn things when I was ready without any preassure.

Florence, former pupil

I like Inwoods because when I feel small they hold my hand.

Callum, age 6

Inwoods provided for our daughter and continues to offer for others an affectionate environment keeping warmth, security and innocence alive for a little longer.

Leila, former parent
